About program

A course for students and professionals with the latest advances in the design of new dosage forms of antibacterial drugs with improved biopharmaceutical properties to combat severe infections

Format

Form of classes is part-time (distant)
Weekly classes will include watching thematic video lectures and completing test tasks with
automated verification of results.
An important element of studying the discipline is participation in a mandatory task - a seminar.

    1. Antibacterial drugs: classes, chemistry, mechanism of action
    2. Antibacterial drugs delivery systems
    3. Instrumental methods of in silico analysis.
    4. Cell membrane. Bacteria cell membrane and cell surface
    5. Basics of microbiology
    6. Antibacterial activity tests
    7. Mechanisms of interaction between cell surface and antibacterial drugs delivery systems
    8. Future and perspectives of antibacterial therapy

    Education results

    Know: the main classes of antibacterial drugs, their mechanisms of action, physical and chemical properties, delivery systems for antibacterial drugs, the main types of carriers.
    Be able to: propose a suitable drug delivery system for a given antibacterial drug, propose an experiment design to study the physicochemical properties and antibacterial properties of such a system.
    Master: the theoretical foundations of the methods of physicochemical characterization of the resulting systems and methods for testing their antibacterial activity.

    As a result of completing the activities of this program, the student will gain knowledge on
    the main classes of antibacterial drugs, their mechanisms of action, physical and chemical
    properties, delivery systems for antibacterial drugs, the main types of carriers, on the
    methods of physicochemical characterization of the resulting systems and methods for
    testing their antibacterial activity.
